Ernest G. Reed of Cuba, MO was born on Tuesday, October 4, 1932 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Floyd Rollo Reed and Laville Maddox Reed. He passed away in his home on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the age of 79 years and 9 months.
Ernest achieved his Masters in Education and taught elementary children in the Viburnum Public School for 33 years. He taught three generations of children and was beloved by many students throughout the 44 years of his teaching career. He also, had served as a Boy Scout leader for several years. His hobbies were fishing, canoeing, floating the rivers, shooting pool, and watching the St. Louis Cardinal ball team. He married Joan Lee Sherman on October 4, 1980 in Florissant, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Reed.
He is survived by his wife Joan Sherman Reed of Cuba, MO; children George Ernest Wilson of Dallas, TX, Frank Sherman (Eileen) Davis of Lindenhurst, IL, Marty (Lorna) Reed of St. Ann, MO, Charles Phillip (Linda) Davis of Boulder, CO, Rachel (Craig) Goeckeritz of San Antonio, TX, Linda Rios and Michael (April) Reed all of Los Angeles, CA; sister Floy (Mason) Wheeler of Marion, IL; brother Jesse (Sherry) Reed of Cherryville, MO;12 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
