Camille Ogden Obituary

Camille Ogden nee Whyte of Steelville, MO was born on Monday, November 2, 1925 to Haley Kennon and Maggie Cape Whyte at Truxton, MO.  She passed away on November 20, 2019 at the age of 94 years and 18 days.

Camille married George R. Ogden on November 25, 1948 in St. Louis, MO and enjoyed 53 years of marriage until George passed away on December 14, 2001.  To their union two sons Glen and Don were born.  After raising their sons, Camille attended Mineral Area College for two years and Southwest MO State for two years.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in the field of art.  She taught at Cuba High School for 17 years.  She was a member of the MO Retired Teachers Association.  She loved people, working with all ages of children including in the youth center at her church, and tutoring children.  She was a "Round Table" friend, a volunteer at the Steelville Chamber of Commerce, a Sunday School teacher, a former Elder and Deacon, and a Den Mother of Boy Scouts.  She worked with the Adult Literacy Program and also worked at the Meramec Music Theater.  In her remaining spare time she enjoyed reading and  working crossword puzzles. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Haley and Maggie Whyte; husband George Ogden; parents-in-law George  (Lavonne Betty) Ogden Sr.; sister Vivian Mae Whyte; brothers-in-law Charles Moelm, and George Hieken; and sister-in-law Darlyne (Earl "Bud") Costly.

She is survived by her sons Glen S. (Rhonda) Ogden of Steelville, MO and Don W. (Linda) Ogden of Rogers, AR; sisters Clarice Moelm of St. Louis, MO, and Ruby Jean Hieken of Meramec, NH;  grandchildren Stephanie Ogden of Conroe, TX, Stacy (friend Ryan Jones) Ogden of Sullivan, MO, Summer (friend Jeremy Davis) Beeman of Bourbon, MO, Michael (Delana) Ogden of Pensacola, FL, Daniel (Cassie) Ogden of Denton, TX, Tabitha (Jerry) Highfill of Gulf Breeze, FL, and Courtney Castor of Owensville, MO; great grandchildren  Austin Heath of Arnold, MO, Lane Heath of Conroy, TX, Camille Ogden of Denton, TX, Jovia Highfill of Gulf Breeze, FL, Kyler Ogden-Davis, Kolton Davis, and Kayden Davis all of Bourbon, MO, Jax and Declan Ogden of Denton, TX;  nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 5-7:00PM at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO.  Funeral Service was  on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 10:00AM at Steelville Presbyterian Church, 211 N. First St., Steelville, MO with Pastor Wendy Downing officiating.   Burial was at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery, St. Louis, MO at 1:15PM with pallbearers Michael and Daniel Ogden, Jerry Highfill, Ryan Jones, Jeremy Davis, Austin and Lane Heath. Honorary pallbearers were Kyler, Kolton, Kayden Davis, Declan and Jax Ogden. Memorials were suggested to the Steelville Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 860, Steelville, MO 65565 and/or the Steelville Boy Scout Troop #477, Peoples Bank, P.O. Box H, Cuba, MO 65453.
