Janet Lea Gruver, nee Shackelford, of Steelville, MO was born on Saturday, October 22, 1960 in St. Charles, MO to Lewis “Buck” Shackelford and Katherine Gargus Shackelford. She passed away at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins, WY at the age of 58 years, 10 months and 8 days.
Janet graduated from John F. Hodge High School in St. James. She married James “Jimmy” David Gruver on June 2, 1989 in Branson, MO and to this union 4 children were born. Janet worked for a few years at Phelps County Bank where she also attended East Central College in Union and took finance classes. Her favorite and most important job was to stay at home and take care of her family. She was always the room mom at all of her kid’s school events. Janet accepted the Lord early in life and attended Life Church in Rolla, MO. She enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing. She liked going to her kid’s ballgames. She loved to travel with her husband Jimmy and loved dancing to the Bee Gees while cleaning. Most of all, Janet loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis “Buck” and Katherine Shackelford; parents-in-law David (Clara) Gruver; brothers Ernest and Dale Shackelford and sister Susan Shackelford.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years Jimmy Gruver of Steelville, MO; four children Amy (David) Parrott of St. James, MO, Joshua (Melissa) Gruver of Pipe Creek, TX, Emily (Shannon) Moreland of St. James, MO and Elizabeth (Richy) Gillam of Davisville, MO; grandchildren Ashlyn and Ethan Parrott, Paris Gruver, Savannah Moreland and baby Timber Gillam on the way; her sweet puppy Nala; siblings Lewis “Tiger” (Mary) Shackelford of St. Louis, MO and Patricia Shackelford of Sioux City, SD; sister-in-law Kathleen (Bob) Carver of Springfield, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO. Funeral Service was at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO, with Pastor Dave Hatcher officiating. The family chose cremation as her final dispostion.
Memorials were suggested to the family for funeral expenses.
