Madeline (Moutray) West

Madeline West nee Moutray of Leasburg, MO was born on Monday, July 4, 1927 in Steelville, MO to Harlan S. Moutray and Parthena May Luck Moutray.  She passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019 in Leasburg, MO at the age of 92 years, 4 months, and 10 days.   

She married John William “Bill” West on January 14, 1950 and to this union five children were born.  Madeline was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Leasburg, MO where she had been a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School Teacher for many years. She worked for 25 years as a Teacher’s Aid for Bourbon Public School and also, was a hair stylist in her home for 10 years. Her hobbies were watching birds, reading, sewing, and working in her flower garden. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sylvester and Parthena Moutray; husband John William “Bill” West; son  Richard  West, brothers Raymond (Aileen) Moutray, Harold "Sandy" (Edna) Moutray, Everett "Jake" (Elsie) Moutray, Fennel (Margaret) Moutray, Adrian (Mildred) Moutray, Floyd (Marvel) Moutray, and Doyle Moutray; sisters  Gladine Moutray, Ruth (Avery) Birge, and Clara (William) Gilmore; grandson John Easter; brother-in-law Bernard (Hilda) West and sister-in-law Ann (Dave) Daniels.

She is survived by her children Darla West of Leasburg, MO, Roger West of Steelville, MO,  Kay (Charles) Caltry of Sullivan, MO and Gary (Karin) West of Steelville, MO; sister-in-law Mabel Moutray of Steelville, MO; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 10:00-11:00AM at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Funeral Service was at 11:00AM on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO with Pastor Paul Dunn officiating.  Burial at Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, MO.  Memorials were suggested to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Leasburg, MO.
