Ottis L. Smith

Ottis Lee Smith of Leasburg, MO was born in Mill Spring, MO on Sunday, March 10, 1929 to Charles H. Smith and Mamie Pearl (Boatwright) Smith.  He passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at MO Baptist Hospital, Sullivan at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 7 days.

Ottis accepted the Lord in 1952 and was recently a member of Trinity Chapel of Leasburg, MO.  He married Bertha Juanita Bland on July 26, 1947 in Pocahontas, AR.  He was a machinist in the automotive parts industry.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and any kind of outside work.  Ottis was a very faithful servant of the Lord and preached the gospel. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mamie Smith; parents-in-law James and Helen Bland; wife Bertha Juanita Smith; daughters Miriam Gail DeClue, Sharon Brown and Audrey (John) Mendoza; brother George O. Smith; sisters Opal Gentles, Osa Webb, and Ola Goebel, granddaughter Stephanie Lynn Smith; sisters- in-law Mondena Dent, Wanda Lea, Mandelean George and Melbalean Barton; and brother-in-law Curtis Dale Bland. 

He is survived by his children Gary O. Smith of DeSoto, MO, Michael Smith of St. Louis, MO, Brenda Joyce Smith and Timothy Lee Smith of Leasburg, MO; son-in-law Howard DeClue of Sullivan, MO; brother Ora E. Smith of Mill Springs, MO; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Edith Smith of Mill Springs, MO, Jean Cole and Don Barton of Raymondville, MO, Jewel Lovins and Marilyn Bland of Eminence, MO; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 12:00-2:00PM on Friday, December 20, 2019 and Funeral Service  at 2:00PM on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO with Pastor Richard Martin officiating.  Burial was at Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, MO.
