Ruth (Jones) Collier

Ruth Collier nee Jones of Cuba, MO was born on Monday, February 25, 1929 in Cherryville, MO to Arthur A. Jones and Eura Sara (Oxendine) Jones.  She passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Victorian Manor in Cuba, MO at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 13 days.

Ruth accepted the Lord early in life, was a member of Cherryville Baptist Church and loved her church family.  She graduated from Cherryville High School.  She married William “Bill” Collier in St. Louis, MO on September 3, 1960 and moved to St. Louis, MO.  She worked at B&D Accuglass as a glass cutter and also as an inspector.  They later moved back home to Cherryville, MO where together she and Bill worked hard on the farm.  She loved the outdoors and enjoyed tending to her garden and canning.  She and Bill enjoyed many days and evenings sitting outside and visiting with their dear friends Lonnie and Judy Chandler.  Ruth was always a lot of fun, she would light up a room and was always a very positive and uplifting person.  Most of all, Ruth loved her family and enjoyed having family gatherings. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Eura Jones; husband Bill Collier; parents-in-law John Sr. and Ruby Collier; siblings Earnest Jones, Arthur "Chick" (Vera) Jones, Daphane (William) Janus and Dolly Marie England; brothers-in-law Henry Collier, Victor Collier, John Collier, Jr., Robert Collier, Clifford Collier, Kenneth Collier, Charles “Pop Eye” Collier and David Attebery; sisters-in-law Judy Hewkin and Shirley Moreland; nephews Mitchell Jones, John Jones and Kevin Jones.

She is survived by her nephews and nieces Robert "Bob" England and Roger England both of Fenton, MO, Les England of Catawissa, MO, Jay Jones of Cedar Hill, MO, Mike (Denise) Jones of Eureka, MO, Bill Janus of St. Clair, MO, Fred Hewkin of Valley Park, MO, Danny (Alisha) Jones of St. Clair, MO, Richard (Paula) Jones of Benton, LA, Cheryl (Bruce) Donal of Cherryville, MO, Rhonda (Dan) Frisch of Springfield, MO, Brenda (Bill) Blair of Springfield, MO and Robin (Jesse) Barnett of Davisville, MO; brother-in-law Curtis England of Steelville, MO; sisters-in-law Pat Lanham of St. Clair, MO, Charlotte Atteberry of Belton, MO and Violet Collier of St. Louis, MO; special friends Nancy Stratton and Jean Gray both of Cuba, MO and the residents and staff of Victorian Manor; cousins and many friends.

Visitation was from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Cherryville Baptist Church, Cherryville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 12:00 PM with Pastor Doug Windle and Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.  Burial was at Cherryville Baptist Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Cherryville Baptist Church.
