Addie “Elizabeth” Schmidt, nee Pinnell, of Steelville, MO was born on Tuesday, October 17, 1933 in Scotia, MO to James Lloyd Pinnell and Grace Clementine (nee Coleman) Pinnell. She passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Steelville Senior Living at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 12 days.
Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of Steelville, MO and attended Steelville schools. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of Steelville Presbyterian Church. She married the love of her life, Eugene David Schmidt, on January 8, 1954 in Keysville, MO and to this union 3 children were born. She was a hard worker and was employed in several places in Steelville including Brown Shoe Company, Hutson Department Store, and Steelville R-3 School District as a cook until retirement in 1989. After retiring she worked for the Golden Age Center in St. James, MO. She and Gene farmed together, raising crops and cattle until he passed in 1986. She enjoyed cooking and going to Branson with her daughter, Dana. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Grace Pinnell; step-mother Marie Pinnell; husband Gene Schmidt; parents-in-law Henry and Francis Schmidt; step-mother-in-law Clara Schmidt; daughter Dana Elizabeth Schmidt; siblings James Haskell Pinnell, Ina (Lindell) Bouse, Dorothy (Rev. Delmar) Hutson, Rosie Atchison and infant brother; sister-in-law Catherine (Glen) Coleman; nephew John Hudson.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons, David (Colleen) Schmidt of Steelville, MO and Dale (Debbie) Schmidt of Jefferson City, MO; grandchildren Kelly (Jared) Wicklund of Carthage, MO, Grant (Meghan) Schmidt of Batavia, OH and Eric (Lindsie) Schmidt of Steelville, MO; brother-in-law Ray Atchison of Steelville, MO; sister-in-law Lorraine “Rainey” Pinnell of Villa Ridge, MO; nephews Spencer (Valerie) Hutson of Cuba, MO and Paul (Pam) Hutson of Steelville, MO; niece Linda Hudson of St. Charles, MO; 9 great grandchildren: Karch, Aowyn, Thaden, Karyla and Kiran Wicklund, Eleanor “Ellie” and Memphis Schmidt, Taylor and Claire Schmidt; cousins and many friends.
Visitation was from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 02, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed with Rev. Wendy Downing officiating. Burial was at Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, MO. Memorials were suggested to Liberty Cemetery or the Steelville Presbyterian Church.
