Alice Margaret (Meade) Mendoza

Alice Margaret Mendoza nee Meade of Cuba, MO was born on Wednesday, May 18, 1938 in St. Louis, MO to Earl Leland Meade and Dollie Irene (McGee) Meade.  She passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at St. James Living Center in St. James, MO at the age of 82 years and 4 months.                                      

Alice married Robert "Bob" Joseph  Mendoza on July 30, 1955 in St. Louis, MO and to this union 6 children were born.  Alice worked at a pen factory in St. Louis before moving to Cuba in the early 1970's. The family owned and operated "LaCasa" restaurant in Cuba for several years. After the restaurant closed, Alice worked a few years as a cook at Phelps County Regional Hospital in Rolla, MO.  She had attended Deer Creek Baptist Church and Faith Chapel Assembly both in Cuba, MO. Alice was an outstanding cook.  She enjoyed to needlepoint and make homemade quilts and afghans.  She loved to read and study her bible and listen to gospel music.  Alice loved getting their family together and most of all enjoyed her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Dollie Meade; parents-in-law Leonardo and Sarah Mendoza; sisters Ethel (Willy) Belmar and Doris Meade; brother Willard “Bill” (Dorothy) Meade; brothers-in-law Tony Mendoza, Hank (Pat) Mendoza, Pete and Lou Mendoza, Walter Radford and Ben Dickie; sisters-in-law Caren Meade and Mary Mendoza; grandson Davis Gene Dotson.

She is survived by her children Robert "Joe" Mendoza, Jr. of St. James, MO, James Mendoza of Cuba, MO, Carla Mendoza of Jefferson City, MO, David (Brenda) Mendoza of Cuba, MO, Paul (Debbie) Mendoza of St. Charles, MO and Elania (Jesus) Padilla of Cuba, MO; brothers Orvil (Fern) Meade and Frank (Beverly) Meade both of Cuba, MO; sisters-in-law Joann Dickie of Austin, TX, Alice Radford and Nika Ruff both of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law Donnie Mendoza of Duluth, MN; 11 grandchildren Elizabeth Mendoza, Anthony (Christine) Barton, Candice (Jeff) Kennedy, Angelita Mendoza, Danielle Mendoza, Katie Mendoza, Jasmine Mendoza, Nicole Mendoza, Alysia Dotson, Scottie Dotson, Jr. and Jamien Dotson; 5 great grandchildren Natalie Barrons, Destiny Bonebrake, Jerry Bonebrake, Dominic Barton and Quinn Kennedy; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. A joint Funeral Service & Celebration of Life for Alice and her husband Bob was at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO with Pastor Darla Buettner officiating . The family chose cremation as Bob's disposition. Burial for the two was at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, MO.  Memorials were suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
