Anna M. (Barr) Hartwick

Anna M. Hartwick, nee Barr, of Cuba, MO, was born on Tuesday, August 25, 1931 in Viburnum, MO to Marion Fredrick Barr and Susan Eva Barr, nee Britton.  She passed away at Cuba Manor on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 6 days.

Anna attended Steelville High School.  She married Lloyd Luther Wallis on November 27, 1949 in St. Louis, MO, having a double wedding with her sister Betty, and to this union 4 children were born.  She worked as a printing press operator for Carboline in Brentwood, MO.  She later married Floyd Wayne Hartwick in September of 1970 in St. Louis, MO.  Anna had accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and was very active in her church at Calvary Fellowship in Fenton, MO and later was a member of First Baptist Church in Cuba, MO.  She enjoyed going on trips with People’s Bank.  Most of all, Anna loved spending time with her family.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marion and Susan Barr; first husband Lloyd Wallis; infant daughter Susan Wallis; parents-in-law I. Shervin Wallis and Anna Mary Flaherty; second husband Floyd Hartwick; parents-in-law Lewis and Elva Pugh; infant brother Glenwood Barr; siblings Hallie (Murphy) Turnbough, Dorothy (Leonard) Turnbough, and Clarence “Jack” (Vivian) Barr; son-in-law Steve Bell; step-son Floyd Wayne Hartwick; brothers-in-law Louis Tiner and Chester "Chet" Brey; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Anna is survived by her children Brenda (Irvin) Pogue of Hillsboro, MO, Deborah (Dan) Wassilak of O’Fallon, MO and Rodney (Stacey) Wallis of Fresno, CA; step-children Barbara Bell of Fulton, MO, Priscilla (Mike) Sodoma and Butch (Debbie) Campbell both of O’Fallon, MO, Robin Darnell of Carterville, IL, Deborah Waugh of Dittmer, MO, Danny Hartwick of Cedar Hill, MO and Cynthia Birdnow of St. Louis, MO; sisters Betty Tiner of Cuba, MO and Peggy Brey of Allegan, MI; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO.   Funeral Service  immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating and was live-streamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, MO’s Facebook Page.  Burial was at Czar Cemetery, Viburnum, MO. Memorials were suggested to Czar Cemetery.
