Annie "Anna" Mildred Crook, nee Tongay was born on Thursday, October 13, 1932, in Leadington, MO to Harry Edman Tongay and Grace Estelle Tongay, nee Bloom. She passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, MO on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 23 days.
Anna married Paul Dean Crook on December 18, 1981, in Edwardsville, IL. She worked at San Val in Steelville, MO, until it closed. She enjoyed yardwork and being outdoors. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Grace Tongay; first husband, Manuel Martinez; second husband, Paul Dean Crook; parents-in-law, Paul and Virginia Crook; brothers, Paul Tongay and Edman Tongay; sisters, Charlotte Tongay and Betty Tongay Barcliff; brothers-in-law, Rance Bourbon and Robert Manuel Crook and son, Matthew Martinez.
She is survived by her children, Manuel Martinez of Collinsville, IL, Michele Dunkin (husband, Steve) of Gulf Shores, AL, Monna Martinez-Monetti (husband, Paul) of Steelville, MO, Marcus (Karen) Martinez of Hillsboro, MO, Mitchell (Melanie) Martinez of Waterloo, IL; step-daughters, Cindy Heddie (husband, Randy)of St. Louis, MO, Dena Crook of Jefferson City, MO, and Dana Crook of Jefferson City, MO; sister, Sharon Meyer (husband, Marvin) of Collinsville, IL; sisters-in-law Pauline Crook of Grandin, MO, Sandra Lee O'Toole (husband, Ron), Paulette Mitchell and Estelle "Essie" Crook all of St. Louis, MO; brothers-in-law Virgil Ray Crook, and James Crook both of St. Louis, MO, Eddie Bourbon (wife, Charlotte) and Victor Miller both of Doniphan, MO, and John Miller of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Celebration of Life immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. The family chose cremation as her final disposition.
