Barbara Ann Callahan, nee Adams, of Steelville, MO was born on Sunday, November 25, 1951 in Steelville, MO to Charles Edmond Adams and Rachel Legetta Adams (nee King). She passed away at her home on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 6 days.
Barbara grew up in Steelville, MO and attended Cherryville High School until it’s closing, then graduated from Steelville High School. She married the love of her life, Ray Esco Callahan on October 11, 1970 in Wells, NV and to this union a daughter, Laura, was born. Throughout her life, she worked in different factories, was a homemaker and recently had retired from managing the Steelville Library. When she was 11 years old, she was saved at the Berryman Assembly of God Church and baptized in the Huzzah river. Barbara served the Lord all of her life and had attended At the Cross Family Worship Center in Cuba for the last seven years and loved her church family very much. Barbara enjoyed to crochet and to read. She loved her dogs, especially Little Bear that always came first, loved flowers and small gardening. Most of all, Barbara loved her family and cooking meals for them. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Rachel Adams; parents-in-law Arvel and Villia Callahan; siblings Jimmie Adams, Roy Adams and Larry Adams; brothers-in-law Robert Callahan, Kenneth Williams, Clarence (Joan) Callahan, Frank Hunter and infants Gene Callahan and Junior Callahan; sisters-in-law Loretta (Jim) Spearman, Lillie Hernandez, Rosetta (Johnny) Hubert and infant Nella Callahan; son-in-law Troy Woodall and grandson Dillon Ray Woodall.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Ray Callahan of Steelville, MO; daughter Laura Woodall of St. James, MO; grandchildren Joshua (Rachel) Woodall and Miranda (Adrian) La Rue both of Steelville, MO; great grandson Samuel La Rue of Steelville, MO; sisters-in-law Nancy Adams of Steelville, MO, Emma Williams of Cherryville, MO, Ima Hunter of Kirkwood, MO and Rosemary Callahan of Cuba, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Bro. Roy Adams, Jr. and Pastor Mike Mounce officiating. Burial was at Berryman Cemetery, Berryman, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to Berryman Cemetery.
