Betty Carolyn Hightower, nee Smith, of Cuba, MO and formerly of Ballwin, MO, was born on Thursday, November 2, 1939, to Woodrow C. Smith and Vinnie Smith, nee Woods. She passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Victorian Place in Cuba, MO, at the age of 85 years.
Carolyn graduated high school in the Class of 1956 from Harrisburg, AR and received her Master's in English through Arkansas State College in Jonesboro, AR. She was an English teacher for 30 years at Lafayette High School, in the Rockwood School District.
Daughter, wife, sister, and good friend.
Loved, honored, and respected by thousands of students and hundreds of teachers that attended and taught at Lafayette High School. Those who had her as a teacher will always remember her lessons on one of her favorite subjects, Greek and Roman Mythologies. You would not make it out of her class without knowing how to diagram a sentence!
She enjoyed stamping and antiquing. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her friends.
Arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO.
