Bonnie Grace Cox Jones, nee Asher, of Steelville, MO, was born on Monday, February 28, 1938, in Phoenix, AZ, to William E. Asher and Hazel A. Asher, nee Worley. She passed away at Steelville Senior Living, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 19 days.
Bonnie and her family moved to Cherryville, MO when she was 6 years old, and she later graduated from Cherryville High School in the Class of 1956. She married Melvin R. Cox, on May 12, 1956, at Cherryville Baptist Church, and to this union 4 children were born. Melvin passed away in 1997, she later met and married Elmer Jones that she shared 3 short years with before his passing. Bonnie was a homemaker, prioritizing her children. She spent most of her summers at the river with her kids, both swimming and camping. She enjoyed to crochet, feed and watch the birds and to collect bird figurines. Bonnie loved to travel, but most of all, Bonnie loved her family, especially all of her grandbabies and great grandbabies. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hazel Asher; first husband, Melvin R. Cox; parents-in-law, Emmett and Lille Cox; second husband, Elmer Jones; siblings, Johnny Asher, Billy Asher, Louise Parrett, Robert “Bob” (wife Wanda) Asher, Ronnie (wife Lindel) Asher and Randy Asher; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Louis Dicus, Jerry McMillen, Ann Asher, Nathaniel Cox, Emanuel Cox, Isom Cox, Doyle Cox, Albert Cox, Dewey Cox, Chris Cox, Dyer Cox and Eva (husband John) Grossman.
Bonnie is survived by her loving children, Debbie (husband Leon) Turnbough of Davisville, MO, Diana Bewig, Dottie Cox (friend Dale Young) and Eddie Cox all of Steelville, MO; grandchildren, Mike (wife Cindy) Turnbough and Stacey Harmon (friend Dallas) both of Davisville, MO, Laura Mendenhall (friend Vance) of Salem, MO, Briana (husband Cody) Stone of Rolla, MO, Brittney Bewig (friend Matt) and Bradley (wife Kathy) Cox both of Steelville, MO and special friend, Kris Bailey; great grandchildren, Isaiah Harmon, Mikey Turnbough, Austin Turnbough, Zola Mendenhall, Carlisle Horton, Aubrey Kreamalmyer, Aleisa Reeb, Lucy Kreamalmyer, Grant Kreamalmyer, Garett Kreamalmyer, Elinore Williams, Sarriah Williams, Izzy Stone, Ryder Rice, Gunner Cox and Hunter Cox; siblings, Fritz Asher, Judy (husband Ron) Caron, Karen (husband Rob) Sikes all of Steelville, MO, Wanda McMillen of Silsbee, TX, Tina Asher of Ozark, MO, Linda (husband Bill) Dodd of Cuba, MO and Cathy (husband Brian) Tucker of Cuba, MO; sisters-in-law, Ruth Cox of Imperial, MO and Amy Asher of Cuba, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family chose cremation as Bonnie's final disposition and will have a Celebration of Life on their own at a later date.
