Cecil Earl Mason

Cecil Earl Mason, of Steelville, MO, was born on Thursday, June 6, 1968, at his family home in Washington County, MO, to Floyd Manual Mason and Modene Annetta Mason, nee Jackson.  He passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 23 days.

Cecil attended school in Belgrade, MO.  He met his childhood sweetheart, Tari Jo Land, when she was 12 years old who he later married on February 7, 1988, in Cherryville, MO, by Rev. Bob Coleman, and to this union two daughters were born.  Cecil had accepted the Lord and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Steelville, MO.  He was an avid outdoorsman; it is where he found peace.  He enjoyed digging roots, hunting and looking for mushrooms.  Cecil was a loving and giving man; he was a protector and rock of his family, never judgmental.  He was a family man who was all about his girls and Gavin, was extremely close with his siblings and thought of his nieces and nephews as his own.  Cecil was a devoted husband, father, “Poppy”, “Pop Pop”, brother, cousin and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Modene Mason; parents-in-law Jim Land, Sr. and Dorothy Land; brothers, Jerry Mason, Richard Mason and Tony Mason; brothers-in-law, Randy Greenwalt, Steven Greenwalt and James "Jimmy" Land, Jr.

Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Tara Mason of Steelville, MO; daughters, Amber (Shaun) Hinson and Kelly (Denin) McClary both of Steelville, MO; grandchildren, Nicole Mason, Gavin Mason, Zachary Hinson, Emily Hinson, Gavin Hinson, Aubrey McClary and Baby McClary on the way; siblings, Connie (Aaron) Wellbaum of IL, Joyce Jean (Jason) Luke and Ronnie (Stacy) Mason both of Steelville, MO, Helen (Bill) McClain of Potosi, MO, Tammy (Jeff) Wells of Salem, MO, Dennis (Tina) Mason of Cherryville, MO and Floyd Allen Mason of Cook Station, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby (Marie) Greenwalt of Clermont, FL, Richard "Scott" Land, Catherine Greenwalt, and Tina (Paul) Wilkerson all of Steelville, MO, Ricky (Betty) Greenwalt of Arnold, MO and Vicki (Russ) Bono of House Springs, MO; many special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Bro. Roger Hinson officiating.  Burial was at Antioch Cemetery in Belgrade, MO.  Memorials were suggested to the family to help with final expenses.
