Charles "Ed" Edward Robinette of Steelville, MO was born on Monday, February 25, 1929 in Pikeville, KY to Matt Robinette and Pearl (Williamson) Robinette. He passed away in Creve Coeur, MO on Monday, August 17, 2020 at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 23 days.
Ed served our country honorably in the United States Army for 6 years. He received several service medals including Korean Service Medal with 1 bronze star, U N Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He performed his duty assignment as an Engineer Supply Specialist for the 97th Engineer Company. He married Rose Lee Branson on December 22, 1964 in Steelville, MO. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as a Switchman/Brakeman until retirement. He was a member of the Spirit of St. Louis #27 Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the United Transportation Union since 1955. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying airplanes, and riding 4 wheelers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Matt and Pearl Robinette; parents-in-law Homer and Lorean Branson; wife Rose Lee (Branson) Robinette; children Nancy Whitaker and Donald Lee Owens; son-in-law Bill Gandy; siblings Willie Robinette, Hughdan Robinette, Matt Robinette, Jr., Chester Robinette, Elkie Hubbard, Barbara Blackburn, Emma Robinette, Arlene Robinette; siblings-in-law Loyd Maynard, Buddy Lawson, and Mary Alm.
He is survived by his children Charles (Shelly) Robinette, Jr. and Wayne Robinette all of Columbia, SC, Retta Gandy of Ocala, FL, and Nelson Homer (Paula) Owens of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Anthony Frederich of St. Louis, MO, Daniel (Tabitha) Frederich of Lake St. Louis, MO, Jody (Jon) Groenke of San Antonio, TX, Dawn (Chuck) Ragona of Mahomet, IL, Austin Owens, Tony Mullen, and Shawn Mullen all of St. Louis, MO, William Gandy of Ocala, FL, Eddie (Amanda) Robinette and Renee Robinette all of Columbia, SC; sisters Phyllis Maynard of Dearborn Heights, MI and Loretta Lawson of Detroit, MI; 12 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO. Masonic Service was at 7:00 PM at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO and Funeral Service immediately followed at 7:30 PM with Pastor Jim Kerr officiating. Burial was on Monday, August 24, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO with full military honors. Memorials were suggested to Shriners Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
