Colleen Denise (Peterson) Lindsey

Colleen Denise Lindsey, nee Peterson, of Cuba, MO, was born on Monday, January 9, 1961, in Columbus, OH, to Boyd Lowell Peterson and Patricia Ann Peterson, nee Thomas.  She passed away at her home on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 10 days.

Colleen lived a life grounded in kindness, hard work, and love for others. She graduated from Richwood High School in the Class of 1979 and carried the values of her hometown with her throughout her life. She attended Methodist churches throughout her life, where her faith and sense of community were important to her.

She worked as a waitress for many years, and her warm, friendly nature made people feel welcome wherever she went. Outside of work, Colleen found joy in simple, meaningful things. She loved horses and spent time riding and caring for them, and she enjoyed farming and being outdoors. She had a special love for animals, especially her cats.

Colleen was first married to Bob Lesmeister, and together they had two children, Johnathon and Kelly. Later, she married Robert Lindsey, and they welcomed a son, Chris. Her family meant everything to her, and she loved them deeply.

She was a wonderful cook, known for her homemade noodles and fresh bread. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, and crocheting, creating beautiful tablecloths and sharing what she made and grew with others.

Colleen was a giving person who never expected anything in return. Whether it was sharing vegetables from her garden or offering a helping hand, she always put others first.

She will be remembered as a great friend, a devoted mother, and a kind, generous soul who touched many lives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Boyd Peterson; mother, Patricia Hoodlet; son, Johnathon Lesmeister; brothers, Robert Dale Peterson and Michael Dennis Peterson; special friend, George Green.

Colleen is survived by her children, Kelly Lesmeister of Kirkwood, MO and Christopher Lindsey of St. Charles, MO; sisters, Karen Muenks of Imperial, MO and Patricia (Doug) Wilson of Richwood, OH; grandchildren, Joey Scorfina-Lesmeister, Lila Reyes-Lesmeister, Eli Lesmeister, Jersey Phelps, Hailey Phelps, Emma Phelps; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Following Colleen’s wishes, the family chose cremation as her final disposition.  No services will be held.
