Daniel Gene Shoemake

Daniel Gene Shoemake, of Steelville, MO, was born on Friday, January 2, 2004 in Rolla, MO to Natasha Jean Shoemake and Joseph William Schmidt.  He was found on the Meramec River on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the age of 19 years, 4 months and 4 days.

Daniel grew up around Cuba, MO and Steelville, MO and had attended Cuba Schools.  He worked various odd jobs, worked in the timber with Roland, but had dreams of becoming a rapper.  He liked playing basketball and wrestling. Daniel loved life, enjoyed walking and listening to rap music.  He had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  Daniel was a joy to be around and loved his family, who will miss him tremendously.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Rhonda Shoemake and nephew Jedediah Shoemake.

Daniel is survived by his mom, Tasha Shoemake (companion Roland “John” Martin) of Steelville, MO; father Joseph Schmidt of Steelville, MO; grandparents Robert Shoemake and Ricky Schmidt both of Steelville, MO and Gail Schmidt of IL; sisters Olivia (Scott) Harper of Helena, MT and Bailey Shoemake of TX; brothers Jacob Wade of St. Robert, MO and Jesse Shoemake of Steelville, MO; mimi Debby Clouse of Farmington, MO; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Trinity Chapel in Leasburg, MO.  Celebration of Life will immediately followed at 11:00 AM with Robby Shoemake officiating.  The family chose cremation as his final disposition.
