David Alan Cahill

David “Dave” Alan Cahill of Steelville, MO was born on Tuesday, August 15, 1961, in Rantoul, IL to John “Jack” Willis Cahill, Jr. and Barbara Laverne Cahill, nee Smith.  He passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at his home in Steelville, MO at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 18 days.

Dave attended Edge Water High School in Orlando, FL.  He enlisted in the United States Navy and served our country honorably for fifteen years.  After his discharge from the Navy, Dave moved to Peoria, IL where he studied Automotive Technology at Illinois Central College and ultimately earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Vatterott College in Ladue, MO.  He worked primarily as a Computer Programmer doing web development.  David married Cynthia Sering and to this union two children, Amanda and Alan, were born.  He later married the love of his life, Tina Louise Smith, on September 19, 2009, at Indian Springs in Steelville, MO and gained two more children, Olivia and Jeffery.  Dave accepted the Lord as his personal Savior in 2012 while attending a men’s retreat.  He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Steelville, MO.  Dave enjoyed bowhunting for deer, camping and traveling.  He was a computer nerd who enjoyed digital artwork and building his own computer.  Dave loved all kinds of music and was proud of his Goebel Co Boy figurine collection that he started when in Italy. Most of all, Dave loved his family.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents John "Jack" and Barbara Cahill; parents-in-law Wayne and Nellie Smith; and brother John Arthur Cahill.

Dave is survived by his wife Tina Cahill of Steelville, MO; children Amanda (Steve) Herron of Chillicothe, IL, David Cahill, II. of Peoria, IL, Olivia (Shawn) Laxton of Steelville, MO and Jeffery Adams of Sullivan, MO; siblings Eugene (Lois) Cahill of St. Peters, MO and Virginia “Ginger” (Brad) Moore of Patoka, IL; sisters-in-law Linda (Beth) Williams of Steelville, MO, Sheila (Mike) Rawson of Farmington, MO and Paula (Tony) Knott of O’Fallon, MO; grandchild Jakob Cahill of Chillicothe, IL; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Funeral Service was at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Assembly of God Church in Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.  Burial was at Martin-Trask Cemetery, Cherryville, MO with full military honors.
