David Lee Massey

David Lee Massey of Cherryville, Missouri was born on Saturday, October 13, 1979 in Sullivan, MO to Richard Lee Massey and Jeanette "Nettie" Massey.  He passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in Cherryville, MO after battling cancer at the age of 41 years, 6 months, and 14 days.

David was raised in Ft. Worth, TX and Springfield, MO and attended school in both districts. He married Melissa Ann Emerson on August 8, 2008 in Stratford, MO and together they raised 4 children. He was self-employed as a general contractor, installing siding and guttering, painting, etc.  His hobby was collecting cars and working on them.  He kept busy raising his children and spending time with the rest of his family. He loved the outdoors, and especially liked to barbecue and grill.  He enjoyed music and making up little jingles. He was always happy and upbeat with many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Alvin and Elsie Massey, John and Jenny Helms, and Dale Smith.

He is survived by his parents Richard Massey (companion Becky Morgan) of Springfield, MO and Jeanette Massey (companion Roy Carrick) of Cherryville, MO; wife Melissa Massey of Cherryville, MO; children Nathan, William, Nevaeh, and Daisy Massey all of Cherryville, MO; brother Richard Massey Jr. of Cherryville, MO; and sister, Olivia Roberts of Springfield, MO; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was from 4:00PM - 5:00 PM on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. The Celebration of Life Service immediately followed at 5:00PM with Bro. Eugene Helms officiating.  The service was livestreamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO's Facebook Page. The family chose cremation as his final disposition. Burial was at Sligo Cemetery, Sligo, MO. Memorials were suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
