Don Stewart

Don Stewart, of Cuba, MO was born on Friday, July 3, 1942, in Rolla, MO to Oran Stewart and Eva Mae Stewart (nee Breuer).  He passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Phelps Health in Rolla, MO at the age of 79 years, 10 months, and 20 days.

Don was a lifelong resident of Cuba, MO where he attended Cuba schools. He married the love of his life, Nellie Mae Kirkman on March 07, 1972 in Orange, TX.  Don accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at an early age and attended First Baptist Church in Cuba, MO.  He was the owner and operator of Stewart Trucking.  He enjoyed driving over the road; however, his main passion was raising and tending his cattle with his wife, Nellie.  He considered his cows as pets and named each of them.  Don also loved farming and working in the hayfields.  Most of all, Don enjoyed spending time with his family.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Oran and Eva Stewart; parents-in-law Ivan and Ruth Kirkman; brother Dick (Judy) Stewart; brothers-in-law Bruce Brown and Jack Kirkman; sister-in-law Louise (Robert) Black; children Donna (Bob) Green and Mike Leathers.

Don is survived by his wife Nellie Stewart of Cuba, MO; daughters Vicki and Tracy; sons Mark (Cindy) Leathers and Joe (Judy) Leathers both of Cuba, MO; sisters Sandy Stewart and Sue Brown both of Cuba, MO; sisters-in-law Sue (Bob) Murphy of Jefferson City, MO, JoAnn Risee and Sharon Kirkman both of Dexter, MO; grandchildren Mardy Leathers of Jefferson City, MO, Cody (Karisa) Leathers, Justin (Megan) Leathers and Jody (David) Minardi all of Cuba, MO; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family had a private service at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO with Pastor Mark Smith officiating.  Burial was at Kinder Cemetery in Cuba, MO.
