Donna Rae Brockett, nee Kirk, of Bourbon, MO, was born on Friday, August 12, 1938 in Shelby County, IA to Nels Christensen Kirk and Helen Escher Kirk. She passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 27 days.
She graduated from Harlan High School in Harlan, IA in 1956. On May 21, 1959, she married Kenneth Franklin Weihs in Harlan, IA. While her husband was stationed in the armed services, Donna trained in San Francisco as an obstetric technician and worked in that field for a few years. Together they had 4 daughters.
On February 14, 1978, she married Jerry Lee Brockett. They were married for 32 years before his death and lived in Kingston, OK for most of their married life. She had accepted the Lord early in life and they attended and were active at Texoma Baptist Church. She loved to shop, take part in the activities at the senior center, attend church, and spend time with her many friends. Other hobbies included gardening, canning, making jellies, crocheting afghans for family members, and cooking. Her family reminisced about her phenomenal cooking ability. In addition, Donna enjoyed raising chickens, going fishing and occasionally making moonshine. She also loved to make people smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents Nels and Helen Kirk; husband Jerry Lee Brockett; and brother Franklin Dale Kirk.
She is survived by her four daughters Susan (John) Corbett of Cedar Creek, TX, Sherry (Mike) Goodwin of West Jordan, UT, Carla (Paul) Vagnini of Bradenton, FL, and Candace (Bryan) Robertson of Bourbon, MO; grandchildren Richard (Leanette) Smith, Ryan (Bethany) Smith, and Sarah Corbett all of TX, Christopher (Amber) Dale of Kingman, AZ, Zachary (Megan) Dale of Riverton, UT, Denise (Cody) Valdez, Mandy (Dave) Phillips, and Mark (Nicole) Herrera all of UT, Amanda (Ted) Walker, Sarah Robertson, Jonathan Robertson all of Bourbon, MO; brother Roger (Mary) Kirk of Alvin, TX; sister Marilyn (Keith) Anderson of Harlan, IA; sister-in-law Karrol Kay Kirk of Harlan, IA; 26 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family has chosen cremation as her final disposition. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
