Dorothy L. (Farmer) Manley

Dorothy Manley, nee Farmer, of Arnold, MO was born on Sunday, August 26, 1934, in Newellton, LA to Reamond Farmer and Esther Farmer, nee Williams. She passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, in St. Louis, MO at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 22 days.

Dorothy married Virgil “Dick” Richard Manley on Saturday, June 7, 1952, in Piggott, AR and to this union 4 children were born. She was a hairdresser in St. Louis, MO for 50 plus years.  She and her husband also owned and operated the Ozark Ice Cream Store in Cuba, MO. Dorothy crocheted blankets for the family in her early years and liked playing cards and going to the casino most recently. According to her family, she was a fabulous cook and famous for her chicken and dumplings. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her family, whom she dearly loved.

She was preceded in death by her father Reamond Farmer; mother and stepfather Esther and Edward Compass; husband Virgil “Dick” Manley; parents-in-law Virgil and Rosetta Manley; son Robert Allen Manley, Sr.; daughter Linda Sue Manley; son-in-law Raymond Tetrauh; brothers-in-law William Manley, David (Jackie) Manley, James (Jackie) Manley, Ernest (Norma "Tiny") Manley, and Leon (Louise) Manley; sisters-in-law Ruby Manley, Marilyn Manley, and JoAnn Manley.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters Debra Ann Manley of St. Louis, MO and  Vickie Lynn (Tim) Gorsuch of St. Clair, MO; grandchildren Renee Manley Markowski and Michael (Karen) Markowski both of St. Louis, MO, John Markowski of Panama City Beach, FL, Richard Joseph Manley of Nashville, TN,  Jeffrey Arthur Gorsuch of Sullivan, MO, Nicole Larea Gorsuch and husband Jacob Widel of Charleston, MO, Robert A. Manley, Jr. and Jared Manley both of Steelville, MO; great grandchildren Austin Markowski of McAllen, TX, Sofia  Machado-Cunha of St. Louis, MO, and Lyla Michelle Gorsuch of Sullivan, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO with Rev. Steve Merz officiating.  Burial will be at Moutray Cemetery in Steelville, MO.
