Dorothy "Dottie" Land Obituary

Dorothy "Dottie" Lee Land, nee Eads, of Steelville, MO was born on Tuesday, February 18, 1936 in St. Louis, MO to Edward Howard Eads and Gladys Marie Eads, nee Humphrey.  She passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at her home at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 11 days.

Dottie began her childhood in St. Louis, MO and then moved to Cherryville, MO when she was 7 years old.  In 1952, she married Calvin R. Greenwalt in Steelville, MO and to this union 6 children, Ricky, Cathy, Bobby, Randy, Steven and Vicki were born.  She later married James “Jim” Land on March 29, 1969 in St. Louis, MO and to this union 4 children, Jimmy, Tari, Tina and Richard “Scott” were born.  Throughout her life, Dottie had worked for a doctor’s exchange, as a waitress and later as a cook for Steelville High School where she later retired.  Her greatest joy and purpose in life was raising children and being with her family.  She had 30 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren that she adored.  Dottie enjoyed ceramics, painting, reading and being outdoors.  She loved hummingbirds, all things purple, sparkles, bling and her coffee.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Gladys Eads; first husband, Calvin Greenwalt; second husband, James "Jim" Land, Sr.; parents-in-law Roy & Marie Greenwalt and Clarence & Sadie Land; sons Randy Greenwalt, Steven Greenwalt and James "Jimmy" Land; grandchildren Danny, Rhonda, Bobby and Mickey; siblings Joan (Clarence) Callahan, Thomas Eads and Gladys "Marie" (Les) Taylor.

Dottie is survived by her loving children: Ricky (Betty) Greenwalt of Arnold, MO, Cathy Greenwalt of Steelville, MO, Bobby (Marie) Greenwalt of Clermont, FL, Vicki (Russ) Bono of House Springs, MO, Tari (Cecil) Mason, Tina Land (life partner Paul Wilkerson), Richard “Scott” Land all of Steelville, MO; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.  Burial was at Keysville Cemetery, Steelville, MO.  Memorials were suggested to Keysville Cemetery.
