He was a life-time resident of Cuba, attended and graduated from Cuba High School, Class of 1987, and a well-respected member of the community.
Doug was self-employed most of his life. He started his first business, Carzotic, at the young age of 16, providing car detailing services with his best friend Kevin Britton.

Upon meeting Mary Adams, who became his life companion, he shared the love of antiquing, enjoyed taking road trips to auctions and jointly operated a resale/consignment shop. He started the business known as Doug’s Shirt Shack which provides t-shirts to other shops and many surrounding schools and cities for sporting and community events. His last endeavor was the undertaking of renovating the historic buildings known as the Cuba Hotel and Southern Hotel, converting them into family apartment units while preserving much of their historic qualities. He was a man of many talents.
Doug was also a master of practical jokes and loved to pull pranks on family and friends, all in fun. He was a generous soul, a kind-hearted man with a heart of gold.
