Edna Clonts Obituary


Edna Elnora Clonts nee McMillen of St. James, MO was born on Monday, July 18, 1921 to John Thompson McMillen and Sarah Elizabeth (Key) McMillen.  She passed away at her home on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at the age of 98 years, 8 months and 29 days.

Edna was raised in Keysville and attended Keysville School.  She married her husband Thurston Edward Clonts on March 3, 1942 in Corpus Christi, TX and to this union three sons were born.  Edna and Thurston enjoyed 45 years of marriage together before he passed away in October of 1987.  She worked as a cafeteria cook in the St. Louis Public School System.  Edna and Thurston moved to St. James in 1980.  She had attended First Presbyterian Church of Cuba, MO.  She had a zest for life and was always happy.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting and crocheting.  She liked gardening, canning and growing flowers.  She also enjoyed  playing Pinochle but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Sarah McMillen; husband Thurston Edward Clonts; brothers William Thompson McMillen, James Lee McMillen, Lawrence Floyd McMillen, Claude Maloy McMillen, Justein Eugene McMillen, baby brother Sydney Allen McMillen, baby brother Ross McMillen, Clarence Dale McMillen and three other infant brothers; sisters Minnie Marie Gray and Mary Nadine Nichols.

She is survived by her sons Terry (Monica) Clonts of St. James, MO, Mike Clonts of Waskom, TX and Dan Clonts of St. James, MO; sister-in-law Norma Jean McMillen of Fenton, MO; grandchildren Taylor Clonts of Albuquerque, NM, Emmett Clonts of St. James, MO and Christina Clonts of Dallas, TX; great granddaughters Kyleigh and Myla; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Private Visitation and Funeral were at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating on Monday, April 20, 2020. Burial was at Keysville Cemetery, Steelville, MO.  Service was live streamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO’s Facebook page.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Keysville Cemetery.    Music played was:  The Unclouded Day - Willie Nelson, In the Garden - Alan Jackson, How Great Thou Art - Carrie Underwood and Amazing Grace - Alan Jackson.
