Elizabeth "Liz" J. (Felton) Smart

Elizabeth “Liz” Jean Smart, nee Felton, of Rolla, MO, previously of Steelville, MO, was born on August 28, 1971 in Springfield, MO and was later adopted by Earl “Denny” Felton and Tamara Kay (Glasscock) Felton.  She passed away at her home on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the age of 49 years, 1 month and 20 days.

Liz attended Hazelwood High School.  She later went to school where she obtained her certification to become an EMT.  She was an EMT most of her life, working at Christian Hospital Ambulance in St. Louis, MO and then in 1998 moved to Steelville where she began to work for the Steelville Ambulance District and volunteered for the Steelville Fire Department. She was married to Mike Smart who also worked for Steelville Fire.  Liz knew her calling in life was to help people and she loved doing that.  She was fun-loving.  She enjoyed socializing and had a love for being around people in general.  Liz also enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola merchandise and collectables.  She loved her dog, Sugar.  Most of all, Liz was a proud mom who loved her children.

She is survived by her parents Earl “Denny” and Tamara Felton of Ozark, MO; children Joseph Smart of Steelville, MO, Gabby Westlake of St. Peters, MO and Austin (Nicole) Smart of Ocala, FL; brothers Thomas Felton and Jimmy (Heather) Felton both of Springfield, MO; 5 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 7:00 PM with Rev. Alan Miles officiating.  Her family chose cremation as her final disposition.
