Elsie Weaver Obituary

Elsie Lee Weaver of Steelville, MO, was born in Keysville, MO on Wednesday, July 2, 1930 to William Clark Farrar and Emily Lola Esther (Oxendine) Farrar.  She passed away at Steelville Living Center in Steelville, MO on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at the age of 90 years and 21 days.

Elsie attended school in Keysville, MO.  She accepted the Lord early in life.  She married Charles Sheldon Weaver in Cherryville, MO  on July 27, 1946 and to this union seven children were born.  She was a member of United Baptist Church in Steelville, MO.  She was a full time homemaker and enjoyed cooking, babysitting, and her grandchildren.  Her home was the popular place to be on Sundays as she always had her famous fried chicken on the menu. She loved spending time with her family and holidays were always boisterous.  She spent a lot of time sitting on her porch and watching her hummingbirds feed.  She always ensured they had plenty of sugar water to drink. She was an avid bowler and participated in many bowling leagues. Other hobbies included traveling, following the St. Louis Cardinals, and watching Wheel of Fortune. 

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Emily “Esther” Farrar; husband Charles Sheldon Weaver; parents-in-law Osten and Rose (Farance) Weaver; sons DeWayne Weaver and Tim Weaver; son-in-law Ned Dorf; grandson Joshua Wyatt Staples; brother Jim Farrar; sisters Mildred (Delmar) Parrett, Rosie “Mable” Farrar, and Anna Farrar; brothers-in-law Earl Halbert, Rev. Jerry Walls, John (Jean) Weaver, Berton (Margaret) Weaver, Wilbur Weaver, James (Juanita) Weaver, sisters-in-law Lena (Otto) Cummings, Elsie (Coleman) Hardin, Sylvia Weaver, Ruth (Jim) McCoy, Rosemary (Bob) Wilkinson, Vera (Aden) Jones, Bernice (Alvin) Counts and Clara Weaver.

She is survived by her children Kay (Dan) Becker of Ballwin, MO, Anna “Mert” (Ken) Staples of Cuba, MO, James “Bo” (Chris) Weaver of Steelville, MO, Brenda (Robert) Marz of Rolla MO, and Tammy (Matt) Tighe of Cuba, MO; daughter-in-law Kim (Kelly) Williams of Cuba, MO; sisters Edna Halbert of St. Louis, MO and Arnetta Walls of California, MO; special nephew Joe Halbert of Springfield, MO; grandchildren Shane (Tracy) Staples, Alicia Weaver, Emily (Joe) Weaver, Ryan (Jessica) Weaver, and Hannah Weaver all of Cuba, MO, Danny Becker and Billy Weaver both of Owensville, MO, Cheri (Rob) Garrett of Sullivan, MO, Heather Marz of St. James, MO, Luke (Sandon) Marz, April Cahill, and Chad Marz all of Rolla, MO, Michelle (Wes) Hampton of Salem, MO, Bobby Becker of Ballwin, MO, Bartley (Michelle) Staples of Washington, MO, Amanda (Joe) Sullivan of Union, MO, Roseann (John) Miller of Marthasville, MO, Charlie Weaver of Columbia, MO, Jimmy (Kirsten) Weaver of Fort Worth, TX, Justin (Ericka) Weaver of Crystal Beach, TX, Shelby (Alister) Beardshaw of Walker, LA, Colby Dorf of Denver, CO, and Meegen Hancock of Van Buren, AR; 38 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation was from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service was from 11:00AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO  Rev. Spencer Hutson officiated.  Burial was at Martin Trask Cemetery, Cherryville, MO.  Memorials may be given to Martin Trask Cemetery or for funeral expenses.
