Ethel Calvert Obituary

Ethel Viola Calvert nee Dickhans of Bourbon, MO, formerly of St. Louis, MO, was born in St. Louis, MO on Thursday, September 2, 1926 to Edward Dickhans and Mildred(Zurheide) Dickhans. She passed away at her home in rural Bourbon, Missouri on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the age of 93 Years, 10 Months and 6 Days.

 

Ethel accepted the Lord and formerly attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO.  She married James Black Calvert on April 9, 1949 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO.  She worked at a bakery as a young girl and fostered a lifelong love of cooking. She worked at Busman Fuse Company and also as a caregiver for the elderly.  Most of all she enjoyed her work at home cooking and taking care of children.  She loved spending time with her family.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, James Black Calvert, who passed in July 2017; her parents Edward and Mildred Dickhans; parents in-law Edward and Margarete Calvert; daughter Linda Cape; son-in-law Rev. Norman Dierking; siblings Dolores (Earl) Harding, Mildred (Walter) Holland; Alice(George) Pfaff, and Jack(Edna) Dickhans; and 7 brother-in-laws and a sister-in-law.

 

She is survived by her daughters Susan Dierking of Jefferson City, MO, Patricia(Dennis) Monaco of Union, MO, Jacqueline(Dan) Durphy of Bourbon, MO; son-in-law Alan Cape of TX; grandchildren Jennifer(Michael) Johnson of Jefferson City, MO, Matthew(Alicia) Dierking of Des Moines, IA, Jonathan(Laura) Dierking of Jefferson City, MO, Michael(Lisa) Dierking of Holt Summit, MO, Brian (former wife Stacey) Monaco of St. Louis, MO, Andrea(David) Harrell of Japan, Kelley(Kevin) Volk of Kirkwood, MO, Erin (Brian) Ash of Cassville, MO, Margaret "Maggie" (Paul) Rudkin of Jefferson City, MO, Rory Durphy of Lemay, MO, Robin Durphy of Bourbon, MO; great grandchildren Luke Johnson, Adam Johnson, Jessi Johnson, and Brandon Dierking all of Jefferson City, MO, Megan Dierking, Jacob Dierking, Emily Dierking, Ryker Dierking and Karsten Dierking all of Holt Summit, MO, Westley Monaco and Belle Monaco of Lake St. Louis, MO, Aubrey Harrell of Japan, Lyla Volk of Kirkwood, MO, Landon Rudkin, Zander Rudkin, and Daemon Rudkin all of Jefferson City, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Cremation was chosen as the final disposition.  Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
