Fredia Bunch Obituary

Fredia Mae Bunch of Steelville, MO was born Friday, December 25, 1925 in Perry County, KY. She was the daughter of Goodloe and Mahala (nee Napier/Eversole) White.  She passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023 at the home of her daughter Karen McPeters in Cuba, MO at the age of 97 years.

Fredia grew up and attended school on Lower River Caney in Breathitt County, KY.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She married Orville A Bunch of Wellsville, MO on December 15, 1945.  They made their home in Affton, MO until 1976 when they moved to Steelville, MO.

Fredia was a loving mother and homemaker who loved being in her kitchen cooking and baking, surrounded by family and friends.  Between the blackberry cobbler and fried pies, you never went home hungry.  She enjoyed doing volunteer work and helping others.  On May 9, 2006, she was awarded the Missouri Lieutenant Governor’s Senior Service Award for her 4,500 volunteer hours at Gibbs Senior Care Center in Steelville, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents Goodloe and Mahala White; her husband of 40 years Orville Bunch; brothers Charles White, Charles P. White, and Washie White; sisters Mary Hembre, Margie Reynolds, Ethel (Bill) Meyers, Martha White, Hattie (Adolf) Liebach; brother-in-law Andrew Emann and granddaughter Kelly Wilson.

She is survived by her brother Elijah White of River Caney, KY; sister Christine Kulenkamp of Grantsburg, IL; children Fred and Martha Bunch of Wildwood, MO, John and Charita Bunch of Steelville, MO, Ralph Bunch and partner Gene Stratton of Naples, FL, Karen McPeters of Cuba, MO, and Terry Beach of Dayton, OH; grandchildren Benjamin Bunch and partner Kira Greene of Brooklyn, NY, Andrew Bunch and partner Betta Broad of Kingston, NY, Westly and Nicole McPeters of Steelville, MO, Justin and Allison McPeters of Steelville, MO, John Bunch, II. and fiancée Stephanie Ogden of Owensville, MO, Rachel and Brent Setzer of Rolla, MO, Karona Vest of St. James, MO and Jady Bishop of Miamisburg, OH; grandson-in-law David Wilson of Miamisburg, OH; great grandchildren Dylan Bunch, Maggie Bunch, Clare Bunch, Haleigh Setzer and partner Chase Ray, Chase Setzer, Adalyn Page McPeters, Owen Paul McPeters, Elly Nicole McPeters, Myah Grace McPeters, Tanner Wilson, Jessie Wilson, and Sidney Bunch; great great grandchildren Naomi Grace Ray, Liam Johnson, Isabelle Johnson, and Grace Johnson; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation was on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, from 10 AM – 12 PM at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral service immediately followed at 12 pm with Pastor Andy Keymann officiating.  Burial was at St. James Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorials to Golden Echos and Meals on Wheels in Steelville, MO.
