George Lee Adams, Sr.

George Lee Adams, Sr. of Steelville, MO, was born on Friday, January 22, 1937 in Steelville, MO to Clarence William Adams and Ruth Irene Isgriggs Adams.  He passed away at his home on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 29 days.

George was a lifelong Steelville resident and attended Hinch and Liberty Schools.  He was a woodsman and could be found selling firewood in town.  Years ago, he had worked at Weidemeyer Tire Shop and for Townsend Tree Service.  George was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved trapping, root digging, hunting, fishing and cutting wood.  Most of all, George loved his children and grandchildren who he loved spending time with.  He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ruth Adams; wife Bertha Adams; parents-in-law Dorman and Sylvia Mounce; siblings Margaret (Walter) Reiner, Alta (Clymer) Brakefield, Johnny Adams and Bonnie (Howard) Klein; sister-in-law Joyce Mounce and son-in-law Doug Hutson.

George is survived by his children Lisa (Steve) Proffer of Steelville, MO, Barbara (Eddie) Brickey and Mary Adams both of Cuba, MO and Buddy (Sandra) Adams of Steelville, MO; sister Bessie (Lawrence) West of Leasburg, MO; brothers-in-law Tom (Marilyn) Mounce, Dorman Mounce and David Mounce all of Steelville, MO; sister-in-law Debbie (Rick) Whittaker of St. Peters, MO; special friend Rocky Chauhdry of Steelville, MO; grandchildren Dustin Adams, Stevie Adams, Heather Proffer,  Courtney (Michael) Ellsworth, Nevaeh Gilbert, Eddie Brickey, Cheyenne Adams and Arabella Adams; 10 great grandchidren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Pastor Michael Stephens officiating.  Burial was at Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, MO.
