Geraldine "Gerri" Ann Rodriguez, nee Johnston, of Steelville, MO was born on Wednesday, July 13, 1938, in Grand Prairie, TX to Horace Delbert Johnston and Edith Ann Johnston, nee McMillen. She passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Steelville Senior Living at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 28 days.
Gerri grew up and attended school in Texas. She married the love of her life, Richard Peter Rodriguez on May 13, 1957, in St. Louis, MO where they lived for 30 years. Gerri worked for Alexian Brothers Hospital as a nurse’s aide for 25 years before retiring. She attended St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville, MO. Gerri and Richard moved to Cherryville where they lived for 23 years before moving to Steelville. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, canning and ceramics. Most of all, Gerri loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Horace and Edith Johnston; parents-in-law Placido & Francis Rodriguez; husband Richard Rodriguez; sons Dennis Johnston and Benny (Beatrice) Rodriguez; brothers Delbert (Gloria) Johnston and Billy Johnston; sisters Muriel (Gus) Chapprass, Dorothy (Jimmy) Flowers and Lavern (Hap) Francis; brothers-in-law Sidro Rodriguez and Jesse (Fern) Rodriguez; sisters-in-law Alvia Rodriguez, Gloria Bader and Delores (Edward) Plunkett.
Gerri is survived by her daughter Cherine Hart of Steelville, MO; sons Richard (Becky) Rodriguez and Robert (Marcy) Rodriguez both of St. Louis, MO and David (Kelly) Rodriguez of Barnhart, MO; daughter-in-law Kathy Johnston of Hillsboro, MO; brothers-in-law Joseph Rodriguez of Affton, MO and David Bader of Cuba, MO; grandchildren Lucas (Jill) Hart, David (Mary) Rodriguez, Danielle (Josh) Flamm, Meghan (Matt) Banocy, Matthew Rodriguez, Emily Rodriguez, Bobby Rodriguez, Benny Rodriguez II (companion Sarah) and Cherine Rodriguez Lewis, Adina O’Neil and Angelita O’Neil; great grandchildren Cecilia Flamm, Claire Flamm, Tanner Hart, Hudson Hart, Grafton Bridge, Calvin Banocy and 1 on the way; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Private Family Burial was at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with Father Jeff Knight officiating. Memorials were suggested to Steelville Senior Living for activities.
