Gregory Lyle Parsons of Cuba, MO was born on Wednesday, February 25, 1948 in Akron, Ohio. He was adopted by his grandparents Theodore Roosevelt Parsons and Frances Gay (Reed) Parsons. He passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020 in Little Rock, AR at the age of 72 years, 5 months, and 13 days.
Gregory graduated from Annapolis High School, Annapolis, MO. He accepted the Lord later in life. He served our country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. As an Infantry Engineer Bridge Specialist he helped set up bridges ahead of the troops. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal Expert (Rifle), Vietnam Service Medal w/l Silver Service Star, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal Expert (M-79). After his discharge from the military he continued using his construction skills in his own business, Parsons's Plumbing. In addition ro running his plumbing business, he also drove a truck throughout the years of his life, while still continuing his plumbing business until retirement. When his health failed he moved to Cuba, MO to be with his daughter, Jamie. In the last few months of his life, he moved to Little Rock, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Frances Parsons; brothers Ron Hollen and Ted Parsons; sisters Brenda Jackson, Josephine (Carl) Hollen, and Virginia (Tom) Whited; and nephew Chad Jackson.
He is survived by his sons Harold Parsons of Jonesboro, AR, Patrick Parsons of Wynne, AR, Ross Parsons (Jeannie Gross) of Imperial, MO, and Clinton McCall of Eufaula, OK; daughters Michelle (Dustin) Chapman of Little Rock, AR, Nika (Bobby) Harvison of Heth, AR, and Jamie (Thomas) Long of Cuba, MO; sister Janet Tolliver of Sullivan, MO; brothers Tom (Patty) Hollen of Glover, MO, Don Hollen of Ironton, MO, and Gary (Barbara) Parsons of Havana, IL; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Funeral Service followed immediately at 11:00AM. Pastor Josh Sanders officiated . Burial was on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 2:00PM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO with full military honors. Memorials may be given to the funeral home for funeral expense.
