Harold "Don" Richardson of Steelville, MO was born on Monday, March 9, 1931 to Harvey Richardson and Myrtle (Sanders) Richardson. He passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at the age of 89 years and 7 months.
Don grew up on a farm in Bonne Terre, MO. He graduated from Desloge High School, Desloge, MO. After graduation he served our country honorably as a Tank Mechanic in the United States Marines. His mechanical abilities were so astute that even while he was still a Marine the head of Chrysler expressed a desire for Don's employ when his military term was up. Instead he moved to St. Louis, MO and worked for A & P Supermarkets where he met the love of his life sitting on potato sacks. He bought a service station and opened "Don's Standard" in Ballwin, MO. In 1969 he sold the station and opened Don's Auto Repair in Manchester, where he did strictly auto repair. Don was always a highly respected business man in the West County community until he retired in 1988 at the age of 57.
Don was a hard worker in both his mechanical work and around his home. In his spare time he enjoyed boating and water skiing. He and Jackie were expert water skiers and they were dubbed "The Pyramid Kids" around the area of the Mississippi River that they waterskied.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jaqueline "Jackie" Elaine Richardson; parents Harvey and Myrtle Richardson; parents-in-law John Marvin Gregory and Myrtle Ione (Abrams) Gregory; sisters Juanita Martin, Norma Richardson, Betty Richardson, Dorothy Arenz, and Rita Richardson; brothers Harvey "Rich" Richardson, Jim (Loretta) Richardson, and Robert (Merle) Richardson; sisters-in-law Olive (Harry) Bright, Mary Gregory, and Lee (Bill) Dortch; brothers-in-law Albert "Bus" Gregory, Raymond (Rita) Gregory, and Carroll (Bea) Gregory; nephew Bobby Richardson.
