Irvin John Pogue of Hillsboro, MO was born on Monday, January 29, 1951, in St. Louis, MO, to Carter Byron Pogue and Bessie M. Pogue, nee Fisher. He passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at his home in Hillsboro, MO, at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 15 days.
Irvin attended Fox High School. He worked many years as an excavator doing concrete work and putting in septic tanks. He married the love of his life Brenda Kay Wallis on August 11, 1983, at Four Ridge Baptist Church in Imperial, MO. Irvin accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and attended Calvary Fellowship Church. He enjoyed going to church, fishing, working, and watching westerns. Most of all, Irvin loved his family. He was a devoted husband, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carter (Wilma) Pogue and Bessie Pogue; father-in-law Lloyd Wallis; mother-in-law Anna Mae (Floyd) Hartwick; sister Barbara (Danny) Stodgell; and brother-in-law Don Abernathy.
Irvin is survived by his wife Brenda Pogue of Hillsboro, MO; children Stacey (Tim) King of Andover, KS, Kevin (Tracie) Novak of O’Fallon, MO, John (Gina) Pogue of Marble Hill, MO, Howard (Lorrie) Pogue of Bonne Terre, MO, Carter (Sarah) Pogue of Hillsboro, MO, Katie (Rob) Donahue of Hillsboro, MO, and Phillip (Emily) Pogue of O’Fallon, MO; brother Ed (Nancy) Pogue of Valley Park, MO; sisters Helen Abernathy and Gina Curcio both of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law Debbie (Danny) Wassilak of O’Fallon, MO; brother-in-law Rodney (Stacey) Wallis of Fresno, CA; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 12:00 PM with Pastor Brad Coleman officiating. Burial was at Czar Cemetery Viburnum, MO. Memorials were suggested to Czar Cemetery (PO Box 312, Viburnum, MO).
