James "Jimmy" Land, Jr. Obituary

James “Jimmy” Howard Land, Jr. of Steelville, MO was born on Saturday, September 20, 1969 in St. Louis, MO to James “Jim” Howard Land, Sr. and Dorothy Lee Eads Land.  He passed away at his home on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the age of 51 years, 9 months and 21 days.

Jimmy grew up in St. Louis, MO and later moved to Steelville, MO which he called home.  He married Barbara Lynn French on March 20, 2000 in Steelville, MO and together raised Brandon and Kandace.  He later shared his life for many years with Billie Jo Wilhite and together they raised Cody, Ashley and Bridgette.  Jimmy had accepted the Lord as his personal Savior.  He had worked doing carpentry, doing both flooring and construction.  He worked in the sawmill, at the Rafting Company and lastly at Atlas Van Lines Moving Company.  Jimmy loved working with his hands and tinkering.  He was always fixing things or working on cars.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving the cars he got running.  He loved the river, whether it was floating or going camping.  He also enjoyed watching both the Discovery and History channels.  Most of all, Jimmy loved all of his family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father James “Jim” Howard Land, Sr., brothers Steven Greenwalt and Randy Greenwalt; nephews Danny Ray Leonard and Bobby Skiles and niece Rhonda Renee Bridgett.

Jimmy is survived by his mother Dorothy Land of Steelville, MO; children Kandace (Calem) Brewer of Steelville, MO and Brandon French of Cuba, MO; companion Billie Wilhite of Steelville, MO; step-children Cody Stover, Ashley Stover and Bridgette Stover all of Steelville, MO; siblings Bobby (Marie) Greenwalt of Clermont, FL, Ricky (Betty) Greenwalt of Arnold, MO, Vicki (Russ) Bono of House Springs, MO, Cathy Greenwalt, Tara (Cecil) Mason, Tina Mason (partner Paul Wilkerson) and Scott Land all of Steelville, MO; grandchildren Layla and Hayleigh Brewer and Ash Stover all of Steelville, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Pastor Angel Monda officiating.  The funeral service was live-streamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO's Facebook Page.  Burial was at Keysville Cemetery, Steelville, MO.  In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
