Janet Faye Kemp

Janet Faye Kemp of Salem, MO was born on Monday, December 26, 1955 in Fredericktown, MO to Lee Roy Kemp and Bobbie Faye Kemp.  She passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020 at BJC Hospice Evelyn’s House in St. Louis, MO at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 29 days.

Janet attended school in Viburnum and Ironton.  After graduating, she took classes at Mineral Area College for Psychology and Art.  She had previously worked as a dispatcher in the state of Nevada, a miner for Doe Run and as a health care provider with Phelps Regional Health, but her favorite job was being the mother to her two daughters that she adored.  Janet was a Jehovah Witness and enjoyed her time spent and bible studies with Karen, who came to her home.  She had a green thumb and could make a beautiful plant from any kind of start; she loved her plants and to garden. She had several dogs that she was crazy about, but her current furry companion was Buster.  Janet loved to bake and was known for her tuna fish sandwiches from her grandchildren.  She was full of life and energy, she lit up any room she went into and always wore a smile.  She enjoyed going to yard sales and was a collector of carnival glass.  She also collected coins, raw stones and $2 bills.  Most of all, Janet loved her family.  She was very active in her daughters’ lives; she was always there when they needed her and enjoyed talking to them daily on the phone.       

She was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Bobbie Kemp and nephew Robert Jones.

She is survived by her daughters Brianna Kemp of Cuba, MO and Katie Kemp of Steelville, MO; companion Gale Blair of Cherryville, MO; sisters Debbie Radford of Ironton, MO and Susan Green of Marshfield, MO; grandsons Michael Hebert, Sean Hebert, Tyler Hebert, Aiden Whipp, Christopher Whipp and Bryson Whipp; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO. Funeral Service  immediately followed after at 7:00 PM. Pastor Rick Haggett officiated.  The family chose cremation as her final disposition.
