Jessie Stillman Obituary

Jessie Lee Stillman, nee Jarvis, was born on Monday, February 6, 1939, in St. Louis, MO, to Ralph Jarvis and Freddie “Louise” Jarvis, nee Moreland. She passed away peacefully at her home in Cuba, MO on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 20 days.

Jessie grew up in Cuba, MO and Pacific, MO, later moving to St. Louis, MO, where she graduated from Rosati-Kain High School in 1957.  She gave birth to her only child, a beloved daughter, Brenda Lee Ryon, in 1959.  Always a dedicated employee, she worked for many years at Commonwealth Insurance Company and then Universal Display Company and then ended her professional career when she retired from Weissman Dance Designs in 2002. Jessie enjoyed traveling, especially to California to spend time with her sister and other family. She loved doing crafts of all kinds and always had several projects she was working on. However, these projects often took longer than anticipated because the family cat, Murphy, was always sleeping in her lap and "couldn't be disturbed."  Very strong in her faith, she looked forward to going to church on Sundays and worshipping with her church family at Deer Creek Church in Cuba, MO.  More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, making memories, and spoiling her daughter and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Louise Jarvis; husband, Jerry Stillman; daughter, Brenda Lee Ryon Watts; sister, Pauline (Glen) Burkett; brother, Michael Castelli and great grandson, Ryon Smith.

Jessie is survived by three loving grandchildren, Jennifer Watts of Bridgeton, MO, Robert (Amanda) Lohman and Starr (Marquesha) Lohman both of Cuba, MO; sister, Mary (Bruce) Ayer of Orange, CA; two brothers, Tony (Cindy) Castelli of Weldon Springs, MO and John (Glenda) Castelli of Palm Desert, CA; eight great grandchildren: Aryanah, Celeste, RonTre', Rasheed, Lil Rob, Matthias, Randall and Ezekiel; 1 great great grandchild and another on the way; 14 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation is from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, MO.  Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Tommy Miller and Bro. Jeff Wilson officiating.  Following Jessie's wishes, the family chose cremation as her final disposition.  Memorials may be given to Deer Creek Church.
