Joe W. Wright, Sr.

Joe W. Wright, Sr. of Steelville, MO was born on Saturday, April 21, 1956, in Steelville, MO to Wayne Clifford Wright and Martha Wright, nee Setzer.  He passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at his home at the age of 68 years, 8 months, and 9 days.

Joe grew up in Steelville where he attended and graduated from Steelville High School in 1974.  Joe worked as a carpenter for 35 years and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union. He married the love of his life, Lola Maurine Ousley, on July 13, 1974, at the Assembly of God Church in Steelville, MO and one son was born to this union.    He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior in his twenties and attended church at Change of Heart in Cuba, MO.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.  Joe loved woodworking specially making furniture, knives, and turkey calls.   Joe enjoyed music and playing the acoustic guitar.  Most of all, Joe loved his family and spending time with them, especially his two grandsons. 

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Martha Wright; parents-in-law James and Rose Ousley; brother Stanley Martin; sisters Charlotte Brand and Jane (Bob) Shaw; brother-in-law Joe Brand; sisters-in-law Berneal Martin and Edna Rose Ousley.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Lola Wright of Steelville, MO; son J.W. (wife Ann) Wright of St. Peters, MO; sister Ruby (husband Tom) Bouse of Cuba, MO; sisters-in-law Tillie (husband Mike) Thomas of Kissee Mills, MO and Velma Martin of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law James Ousley, Jr. of Cuba, MO; grandchildren Liam Wright and Xander Wright both of St. Peters, MO;  nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family chose cremation as his final disposition.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be given to the family for final expenses.
