John Thomas Lowery of Cuba, MO was born on Tuesday, January 4, 1938, in St. Louis, MO to John Thomas Lowery and Alberta Lee Lowery. He passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Progress West Hospital in O’Fallon, MO at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 19 days.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, John attended Ritenour High School. He was a dedicated worker who spent many years on the assembly line for General Motors before enjoying a well-deserved retirement.
On July 23, 1956, John married the love of his life, Janet Lee McAdams, in St. Louis, Missouri. Together, they shared a beautiful life and were blessed with three children. Following retirement, John and Janet embraced adventure, traveling and living as full time campers before ultimately settling down in Cuba, Missouri.
John had a deep passion for the outdoors. He loved boating and was an avid gardener. Each year, he poured his time into planting vibrant flowers, bringing beauty to the world around him. Above all his hobbies, John’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Alberta Lowery; parents-in-law Bud and Edna Mae McAdams; wife Janet Lowery; siblings Jimmy (Marsha) Lowery, Joyce (Joe) Moeser, Joe Boy Lowery, Janet (Ronnie) Williams, Jean (Richard) Clubbe, and Joan (Robert) Rice.
John is survived by his three children John P. Lowery of FL, Patricia L. (husband, Steve) Brueggeman of O’Fallon, MO, and Jeffrey A. Lowery of Cuba, MO; grandchildren Kristi (husband, Brent) Kotschedoff, Kimberly (husband, Nick) Hopper, Kathy (husband, Jason) Varner, Nicholas (wife, Emily) Brueggeman, Abbey Brueggeman, Jeffrey Lowery, Justin Lowery, and Alyssa Lowery; great grandchildren Ava, Patrick, Brooks, Brady, Carter, Kaitlyn, Kelsey, and Andrew; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside Service was at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, MO with Pastor Gene Roark officiating.
