Jack Vanek, of Cuba, MO was born on Monday, May 18, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to John Vanek and Dolores Vanek. He passed away at River Crossing Rehab and Healthcare Center in St. Louis, MO, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 29 days.
Jack grew up in Chicago, IL, where he attended and graduated high school. He met the love of his life, Carol Mae Adam, at the young age of 12 years old. They later married on June 13, 1963, in Chicago, IL and to this union two children were born. Jack moved to Wisconsin in 1965 where he was a dairy farmer. In 1984, he sold his farm, bought a truck, and began over the road truck driving, driving as a team with his wife for United Van Lines. He was a member of Teamsters. In 2018, he moved from Wisconsin to Cuba, MO, to be closer to his son. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Delores Vanek; parents-in-law, Alfred and Virginia Adam; wife, Carol Mae Vanek; brother, William Vanek; sisters-in-law, Joan Adam, Gloria Vanek, and Jean Vanek.
Jack is survived by his son, John (wife Patricia) Vanek of Hillsboro, MO; daughter, Joan (husband Barry) Harrison of O’Fallon, MO; granddaughter, Katie Harrison of O’Fallon, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family chose cremation as Jack’s final disposition. There will not be any services held at this time.
