Julie Ann Nash of Columbia, MO was born on Thursday, April 24, 1969 in Salem, MO to Douglas Delano Nash and Mary Lee Mathes Nash. She passed away at Pinedale Medical Clinic in Pinedale, WY on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the age of 52 years, 1 month and 20 days.
Julie grew up in Salem, MO and attended Salem schools. She was adventurous and a tom boy; one day her father who was the Park Ranger was dispatched to a forest fire, just to find out it was started by Julie. She was a natural caregiver and was always wanting to help others. She received her Associate’s Degree in nursing; she worked as a LPN in both Salem, MO and Rolla, MO and as a paramedic in Rolla, MO. She later joined the United States Army as a medic where she served her country honorably during Operation Iraqi Freedom and was a Private 1st Class. She helped with the following organizations in the Department Of Veterans Affairs; Veterans with Addictions, and Peer Support for Mental Health. Julie loved animals, especially her dog Suzie. She loved being outside on the river or on a trail. Most of all, she loved her children who were her whole world and enjoyed spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents Douglas and Mary Nash; son William “Billy” Nickles, Jr.; sister Dawn Conley; brother-in-law Stanley Chandler and nephew Billy Joel Richmond.
Julie is survived by her children Ashley Nickles Pepin (husband Matthew Pepin) of Nashville, TN, Emily Martino of Columbia, MO and Zakkary Nash of Rolla, MO; dearest sister and best friend Barbie Nash of Columbia, MO; siblings Rebecca (husband Ronnie) Lowe of TX, Anita (husband Bill) Richmond, Rita (husband Don) Fisher and Dwain (wife Paula) Conley all of Salem, MO, Elaine Chandler of Viburnum, MO and Chris (wife Trish) Conley of Rolla, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 6:00 PM with Rev. Gene Roark officiating and full military honors. The family chose cremation as her final disposition. Burial will be at Steelville Cemetery at a later date. Memorials were suggested to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
