Kevin Gene Dykes, of Sullivan, MO, was born on Wednesday, September 18, 1963, in St. Louis, MO, to Vernon Eugene Dykes and Imogene L. Dykes, nee Faulk. He passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, MO, at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 13 days.
Kevin graduated from Eureka High School with the Class of 1981. Not long after, he met the love of his life, Linda Sue King, who he later married on on March 24, 1984, in Gray Summit, MO. Their marriage was not just a partnership, but a true bond—one built on loyalty, companionship, and enduring love. Together, they raised Quentin and Madelynn, who became the center of Kevin’s world.
Kevin was a hardworking man, dedicating his time and effort to Aerofil Technologies in Sullivan, where he worked as an Opp 4. His faith was a quiet but constant presence in his life. Kevin had accepted the Lord, and he believed deeply that faith could be found even in simple conversations. He lived his beliefs through kindness, humility, and the way he treated others.
In earlier years, Kevin and Linda found joy in traveling and camping, making memories in places like Hannibal and the Lake of the Ozarks. Those were moments of laughter, peace, and togetherness—things Kevin valued deeply.
He was, at his core, a simple man. He loved vintage hot rod muscle cars, old black-and-white and silent films. Kevin was a night owl with a vivid imagination, someone who found wonder in the little things. He wasn’t one for hunting or fishing unless Linda was by his side—because for Kevin, it was never about the activity, but the company.
Above all, Kevin loved his family. They were his pride, his joy, his purpose. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. Everything he did, everything he was, came back to them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Imogene Dykes; parents-in-law, Douglas Jr. and Cleo King; sister-in-law, Becky Dykes and brother-in-law, James King.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda Dykes of Sullivan, MO; children, Quentin Dykes and Madelynn (James Jr.) Luecke both of Sullivan, MO; brother, Wayne Dykes of IL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe (Marge) King of Memphis, TN, Jeff King of Sullivan, MO, Mark (Jacki) Langworthy of Columbia, MO and Donna King of Doolittle, MO; 5 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Following Kevin's wishes, the family has chosen cremation as his final disposition. The family will have a private memorial gathering at a later date.
Arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO.
