Lance DeClue Obituary

Lance Andre DeClue of Wentzville, MO and formerly of Cuba, MO was born on Tuesday, June 22, 1971 in St. Joseph, MO to Larry and Candace DeClue, nee Deal.  He passed away at his home on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the age of 51 years and 4 months.

Lance graduated from Cuba High School in the Class of 1989.  He received his Bachelors Degree from Missouri Western for biology and chemistry in 1993.  Lance got acquainted with his sister Renie's best friend, Heidi Marie Hunt, who he later married on September 4, 2004 in Cuba, MO by Rev. Spencer Hutson and to this union, a son Noah, was born.  Not long after Lance and Heidi were wed, they moved to El Cajon, CA where they lived for 18 years and he worked for the County of San Diego Land and Water Quality Division.  Lance had accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and was a member of Del Cerro Baptist Church in La Mesa, CA where he was a deacon and also was in the praise band.  Lance played the trombone in church and also the orchestra in the Christmas program at Balboa Park.  Lance served as a Mason and was a member of Cherity Zeradatha Lodge #189 in St. Joseph, MO.  He enjoyed hunting when he was younger, and although he lived in California he still followed the St. Louis Cardinals and wore his jersey to church on Sundays when the Cards would play the Padres.  Lance enjoyed cooking, playing computer & video games and science.  Lance loved to travel and had enjoyed many trips with his family checking places off of his bucket list.  Lance lived life to the fullest, put his faith in Christ Jesus and loved his family.  He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend.

He is survived by his wife Heidi DeClue of Wentzville, MO; son Noah DeClue of Wentzville, MO; parents Larry and Candace "Candy" DeClue of Bourbon, MO; sisters Renie (Chris) Gardner of Troy, MO, Tammy DeClue (companion Mark Grimm) of Mesa, AZ and Lori (Clay) Banks of Lonedell, MO; brother-in-law Greg (Stephanie) Hunt of Jefferson City, MO; nieces and nephews Haley (Jacob) Easterday, Emiley Banks, Maggie (Jonathan) Bockhorst, Seth (Tiyara) Banks, Whitney (Jimmy) Maloy and Jonathan (Chelsea) Hunt; 1 great niece; 7 great nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Keith and Irene Deal and Ruth DeClue; parents-in-law Sam and Dorothy Hunt.

Visitation was from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO.  Funeral Service was at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Hutson Funeral Home Cuba, MO with Rev. Spencer Hutson officiating.  Burial was at 1:00 PM at Big River Cemetery in Irondale, MO. 

Honored to be pallbearers are Chad Arnold, Lleu Munter, Chris Gardner, Clay Banks, Greg Hunt, and Noah DeClue.
