Larry "Steve" Proffer

Larry "Steve" Steven Proffer, of Cuba, MO, was born on Sunday, May 31, 1959 in St. Louis, MO to Herbert Wilson Proffer and Bertha "Lucille" Abney Proffer.  He passed away at his home on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 30 days.

Steve grew up in St. Louis, MO where he attended Southwest High School.  He was a hard worker and was a roofer for Spencer Jones for over 30 years.  Steve married Lisa Jane Adams in Steelville, MO on October 12, 1991 and to this union 3 children were born. He was a homebody and enjoyed drinking beer, listening to music, puzzles, watching wrestling and telling jokes.  He loved St. Louis Cardinals baseball and was a fan of the St. Louis Blues and Rams.  He especially loved meatloaf and Imo's Pizza.    Most of all, Steve loved his family.   

He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Lucille Proffer; grandparents Kendall and Elizabeth Proffer & Earl and Mabel Abney; parents-in-law George Sr. and Bertha Adams; grandmother-in-law Sylvia Mounce; brothers-in-law Butch Kirkendall and Doug Hutson; grandson Elijah Williams; niece Crystal Proffer and nephew Scottie Kirkendall.

Steve is survived by his wife Lisa Proffer of Cuba, MO; children Dustin Adams (companion Melissa Lands) of Cuba, MO, Stevie Adams of St. Joe, MO and Heather (Michael) Hill of Cuba, MO; siblings Jackie Kirkendall, Sharon Langdon and Barbara Ort of Florissant, MO, JoAnn Moore of O'Fallon, MO, Karen (Paul) Hiebenstriet of AR, Charles "Chuck" Proffer, David "Mike" (Lisa) Proffer and Lisa Copling all of Cuba, MO and Kimberly (Carlin) Dreyer of St. Louis, MO; sisters-in-law Barbara (Eddie) Brickey and Mary Adams both of Cuba, MO; brother-in-law Buddy (Sandra) Adams of Steelville, MO; special nieces Chelsea and Abigail Palmer both of Cuba, MO; 9 grandchildren Nevaeh Gilbert, Gage Adams, Lexi Proffer, Journee Nichols, Tessa Hayes, Kayden Williams, Corbin Williams, Regan Nichols and Hailee Adams; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.  Memorial Service immediately followed with Pastor Michael Stephens officiating.  The family chose cremation as his final disposition.  Memorials were suggested to the family to help with final expenses.
