Leda Ann (Weister) Edgar

Leda Ann Edgar, nee Weister, of Steelville, MO was born on Monday, February 25, 1952 in Rolla, MO to Royden C. Weister and Leda B. (Bennett) Weister.  She passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020 at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 3 days.

Leda attended school in Cherryville and Steelville, then moved to Slater, MO where she graduated high school in the class of 1970.  She later attended Sedalia State College.  Leda married Arnold Lewis Edgar on June 10, 1972 in Ashland, MO and to this union two children were born.  She worked in Human Resources with the Missouri Department of Corrections.  She accepted the Lord early in life and attended Center Point Baptist Church in Steelville, MO.  Leda enjoyed quilting, sewing and cross-stitching.  She enjoyed watching television, especially soap operas, Dr. Phil and Dancing with the Stars.  She was a hardworker.  She was nurturing and very considerate of others.  She loved to sing and play the piano.  She enjoyed reading of all sorts, but especially read the Bible and have bible studies.  She loved her dogs Rosie, Riley and Ginger. Leda loved her parents dearly and spoke of them often.  Most of all, Leda loved her family who will miss her so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents Royden and Leda Weister; parents-in-law Floyd and Hazel (Martin) Edgar; brothers-in-law Jack Hammonds; sisters-in-law Brenda Asher and Geraldine Pratt; infant brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lula Carol Edgar and Coel Thomas Edgar.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Arnold Edgar of Steelville, MO; children Patricia (Karl) Lueck of Columbia, MO and Michael (Jennifer) Edgar of Quartz Hill, CA; siblings Carol Hammonds of O’Fallon, MO and Jim (Margaret Ann) Weister of Kansas City, MO; brothers-in-law Floyd “Bud” (Kathleen) Edgar of Festus, MO, Vondel Edgar of Viburnum, MO, Malcom “Mac” Edgar of Flat River, MO, Kelly Edgar of Cherryville, MO, Ricky (Anna) Edgar of Shoal Creek, MO, William Craig (Marie) Edgar of Potosi, MO, Emmett Asher of Bixby, MO, Vernon “Cotton” (Lien) and Bob Pratt all of DeSoto, MO; sisters-in-law Janet Faye (Jerry) Parmley of Potosi, MO, Janice “Kay” (Lee) Parker of Vacaville, CA; grandchildren Amber Peak of Cuba, MO, Patricia Edgar of Phoenix, AZ, Treyton Wehmeyer of Columbia, MO and Dominique Wehmeyer of Jefferson City, MO; great grandson Elijah Peak of Cuba, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed with Pastor Matt Cook officiating.  The family chose cremation as her final disposition.  Memorials were suggested to COVID-19 Research and Care.
