Linda Sue Diaz, nee Slape, of Steelville, MO, was born on Friday, October 29, 1943, in Benton, AR to William Slape and Randa Harrioett Slape, nee Hobbs.  She passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, MO at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 11 days.

Linda attended Center Point school as a child before moving to Illinois.  She returned to Steelville in 1980 with her children.  She had worked at Brown Shoe Company in Steelville until it closed and then was the Housekeeping Supervisor at Cuba Manor until she retired.  Linda enjoyed her flower gardens and working puzzles.  She adored all things Elvis and was able to visit Graceland in Tennessee.  She loved to laugh, which was infectious and often made jokes to make others laugh as well.  She had an outgoing and witty personality that made her a delight to be around and generally never a dull moment.  Most of all, Linda loved and was proud of her family.  She enjoyed watching and hearing about all of her grandchildren’s events.  Linda was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Randa Slape; 7 brothers and 2 sisters.

Linda is survived by her loving children, Eric (wife Catherine) Diaz, Rica Diaz, Alisha (husband Chris) Ransom and Carlos (wife Ruth) Diaz all of Steelville, MO; 14 grandchildren: Erica (husband Justin) Mincks, Erin (husband Keegan) Callow, Megan Woods, Haleigh (husband Kyle) Hofstetter, Devin (wife Renae) Diaz, Carlee Diaz, Michael Diaz (Megan Payne), Alexis (husband Ethan) Kelley, Lainee Diaz, Tanner Diaz, Conner Diaz, Courtney Diaz (fiancé Kyle Killeen), Aubreigh Diaz and Kaison Diaz; 7 great grandchildren: Maci Joy,  Fisher and Poppi Mincks, Bryar Callow, Hadlie and Hudsyn Hofstetter and Elias Kelley; sister Geraldine Beshears of Pocahontas, IL; special friend Pam Sanders of Steelville, MO; special neighbor Rocky Chaudhry of Steelville, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
