Lois Marie (Small) Hughes

Lois Marie Hughes of St. James, MO, was born on Friday, September 29, 1961, in Houston MO to James Richard Small and Marie Small, nee York. She passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the age of 62 years, 8 months, and 14 days.

Lois graduated from Rolla High School. Upon graduation, she earned her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Lois worked as a lunch lady at the St. James School District. She married the love of her life, Terry Franklin Hughes on June 26, 1982, in Rolla, MO and to this union two children were born. Lois accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age, attended Deer Creek Church in Cuba, MO and was strong in her faith. Lois enjoyed swimming, spending time at the pool and fishing. She was a friend to many and was selfless. Most of all, Lois loved her family and spending time with them. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Marie Small; sister Linda L. Dixon; and brother-in-law Willie Laramee.

Lois is survived by her loving husband, Terry Franklin Hughes of St. James; parents-in-law George (Rosemary) Hughes of Rolla, MO; children Randy (fiancee Keagan) Hughes and Casey (Caleb) Light both of St. James, MO; brother James (Julie) Small of Rolla, MO; sister Charolette Laramee of FL; sisters-in-law Tammy Baker and Hope (Darell) Jones both of Rolla, MO; grandchildren Lillie Light, Noah Smith, and Piper Light; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

The family chose cremation as her final disposition and had a private inurnment at Hughes Cemetery, St. James, MO.
