Lucille Rose (Reeves) Wood

Lucille Rose Wood, nee Reeves of Leasburg, MO was born on Sunday, April 6, 1930, in Cincinnati, OH to Michael Reeves and Rose Reeves, nee Perona .  She passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Stone Bridge Nursing Home in Owensville, MO at the age of 95 years, 2 months, and 25 days.

Lucille attended and graduated high school in Oglesby, IL.  She then attended Brown’s Business College for secretarial skills.  Lucille worked for various businesses as a secretary as well as for secretarial service.  She was wise and a good businesswoman.  Lucille owned and operated The Stanley Cour-Tel in Bridgeton, Missouri for over 30 years — a true testament to her strength, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit. She married the love of her life, Allen “Clayton” Wood and three children were born to this union.  She was generous and donated to various organizations and charities regularly.  Lucille enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, going for rides, and proof-reading Dennis’ books.  Lucille took special care of her family and enjoyed spending time with them. 

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents Michael and Rose Reeves; parents-in-law Elsworth and Frances Wood; brother-in-law Harvey Wood; and sister-in-law Anna Clara Wood.

Reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Allen Wood.  A love that stood the test of time, now eternal.  Beloved mother of Dennis Wood, Elaine Hatton, David Wood.  Cherished Grandmother of Melinda Hatton, Lee Hatton, and Anthony Hatton.  Proud Great-Grandmother of Allen Sinclair, Lacey Hoke, Mia Gillia, and Atticus Hatton. Adored Great-Great-Grandmother of Eleanor Rose-Mary Dement. She was a mother not just by blood, but by spirit- A guiding light through darkness, a place of comfort and peace.  Until we meet again, may you rest in the arms of angels and walk in the light of love.

Graveside Service was Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
