Margie Nell (Chronister) Grant

Margie Nell Grant, nee Chronister, of Cuba, MO, was born on Friday, July 9, 1937, in Halls, TN to Bernis Gauvin Chronister and Annie Lou Chronister, nee Lane. She passed away at her daughter Sheila’s home in Cuba, MO, on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 16 days.

Margie lived in Tennessee until she was 11 years old, when her family moved to St. Louis, MO. There she attended grade school and high school. On June 8, 1957, at the age of nineteen, she married the love of her life and the boy next door, Maurice K. Grant in St. Louis, MO, and they were blessed with three loving children.  As a girl, she attended Lafayette Park Church of the Nazarene in St. Louis where she accepted the Lord at an early age. In her later years, she attended Calvary Assembly of God and Steelville First Assembly of God. Margie found her greatest joy in being a loving wife and mother. She was a beacon of light in the home, leading her children and husband to know Jesus.  After her children were grown, Margie and Maurice moved to Arnold, MO, for a brief period before returning to Cuba, where she spent the last 46 years of her life. She cherished the many friendships she made throughout the community and while running their country store and later Margie’s Boutique.

Margie was known for her gracious and generous heart, demonstrating the love of God without judgement. She enjoyed sharing her faith and had a gentle way of guiding others to the Lord. She frequently brought groceries and clothing to those in need, using these opportunities to pray for others and share the message of God’s love.  Margie enjoyed singing gospel music with her sisters, as a trio at special church events in her younger days and singing at family gatherings. She carried a song of joy in her heart throughout her life and could still recall the words to the old hymns. Most of all, Margie loved her family and cherished her time spent with them. Holiday meals with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were one of her greatest joys. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Grant; son Richard Grant; parents Bernis and Annie Lou Chronister; twin sister Argie Moses; sister Evelyn (Harold) Blackwell and infants siblings Tremma Lee and Harlan; sister-in-law Joann (Wayne) Crain.

Margie is survived by her daughters Rhonda Gordon and Sheila (Tim) Ringeisen both of Cuba, MO; daughter-in-law Rhonda Grant of Cuba, MO; sister Ann (Jack) Brock of Sikeston, MO; grandchildren Michelle (Adam) Feuerstein of Littleton, CO, Jennifer Ringeisen and Julie Ringeisen both of Steelville, MO, Matthew Ringeisen, Jason Ringeisen, Tim J. Ringeisen, Mike Grant and Amy (Jason) Lawless all of Cuba, MO; great grandchildren Emily Little, Nate Wood, Bailee Wood, Zetta Ringeisen, Nick Grant, Luke Grant, Liam Lawless and Levi Lawless; step-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Amazing Grace Community Church in Cuba, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Pastor Gary Mace officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, MO. Memorials were suggested to Amazing Grace Community Church.
