Mary Ferguson Obituary

Mary Christine Ferguson, nee Roadifer, of Steelville, MO was born on Sunday, September 7, 1947 in St. Louis, MO to Cecil George Roadifer and Margaret Katherine De Beaux Roadifer.  She passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 6 days.

Mary graduated from Maryland Heights High School.  She was a natural caregiver and worked as a CNA in Desloge, MO for many years.  She married Sherman Lewis Ferguson on September 11, 1995 in Bonne Terre, MO.  They lived in Piedmont, MO for many years before moving to Steelville in 2016.  She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age and enjoyed attending Deer Creek Church in Cuba, MO.  Mary enjoyed crafts, sewing and working with her hands.  She made clothes for herself.  She loved to garden and used to make a 30’ x 45’ garden while living in Jefferson County.  She liked to go fishing, especially for trout and catfish.  She and Sherman enjoyed camping and went to campgrounds all over Missouri, she particularly enjoyed staying in Branson, MO.  Most of all, Mary loved her family and spending time with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Margaret Roadifer; brothers Terry Roadifer and Cecil Bud “Pop Eye” (Diane) Roadifer; sisters-in-law Geneva (Leonard) Owens; Bonnie (Edward) Molitor and Glenda (Robert) Parks.

Mary is survived by her husband Sherman Ferguson of Steelville, MO; children James (Julie) Hutchen of House Springs, MO, Shannon (Matt) Machelett of Gerald, MO, Jason Ferguson of Potosi, MO, Sherman Jr. (Linda) Ferguson of IN, Travis (Anna) Ferguson of Bismarck, MO, Katrina Ferguson of Poplar Bluff, MO and Toni (Kenneth) McGowan of Piedmont, MO; brothers James (Penny) Roadifer and Ralph Roadifer both of Piedmont, MO; sister-in-law Leanna (Tom) Rigdon of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law Stanley (Pat) Ferguson of Potosi, MO; 21 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family chose cremation as her final disposition.  There will be a private family service at a later date.
